Beton Fanzine – Pirates!

Before heading towards Angoulême for this year's Comic Festival, the German-French Fanzine Beton (Concrete) is celebrating its first anniversary with the publication of Issue No. 5. The topic this time around is "Pirates", so naturally the occasion will be marked with a true pirate party at the bar Freibeuter in Berlin - Friedrichshain.

To what extent the 25 illustrators and writers involved have zeroed in on "Pirates" in a literal or rather a figurative manner remains to be seen. Those on board are:Aike Arndt, Alex Chauvel, Anna Bas Backer, Bea Davies et Perez Velilla, Charlotte Hofmann, Chester, Clairikine, E.A. Casanova, El Diablo, Fabian Stoltz, Felix Pestemer, Julien Loïs, Loic Saulin, Markus Magenbitter, Michael Car, Nettmann, Ulli Lust, Paul Winck, Romza, Sophia Hirsch, Stephan bosse, Stéphane Hirlemann, Steven Tamb, Tine Fetz, Yellow G

'Peyotl' - sepulchral or online

On the first weekend of November, the Kassel Museum for Sepulchral Culture joined the Mexican community in celebrating the Day of the Dead.

Using the context of a special exhibition, the museum started screening the animation film "Peyotl" (which is based on illustrations from Felix Pestemer's 'The Dust of the Ancestors') back then and will keep doing so until January 2016. However, those who won't make it to Kassel until then may watch the film online here:

A breeze from purgatory in the Sepulchral Museum

Like each year, the Kassel Museum of Sepulchral Culture and the Mexican Community celebrate the Day of the Dead with a lavish feast. On Saturday, 7 November 2015 a broad program awaits to be discovered, amongst it: the premiere of the German version of the animated film 'Peyotl' by Felix Pestemer, Max von Bock and Tim Kroker.
